REPORT: Bishops Cleeve 0-6 Cheltenham Town

14 July 2017

A hat-trick from Mohamed Eisa was the highlight of the Robins’ comfortable pre-season win over Bishop’s Cleeve.

Carl Winchester, a trialist and Harry Pell also notched in what was a good workout and pleasing performance.

Kevin Dawson missed the game through injury, but Johnson used the depth of his squad to name two different sides for both halves, with only Lovett playing 90 minutes.

Eisa set the tone for the evening as he evaded two challenges and fired home to put Cheltenham 1-0 up after just three minutes.

Good work from Josh Thomas down the right made the second, leaving Winchester an easy finish to prod home.

Cool as ice, Eisa danced through the back four to slam home his second and Cheltenham’s third. He had his hat-trick just moments later, slotting home from a Kyle Storer pass.

It wasn’t all one way traffic, as the Mitres forced some good opportunities of their own but dogged defending from the back four helped keep them at bay.

In the second half, Cheltenham controlled possession and asserted their dominance further.

Page and Cranston looked lively down the left with Holman a livewire as always.

Griffiths in the Bishop’s Cleeve goal made some fine saves before Pell scored the fifth latching onto a cutback from the trialist.

The trialist turned from provider to scorer moments later as he slammed home from close range.

Following from Tuesday’s result at Oxford City, it was a well-deserved and pleasing victory over a Bishop’s Cleeve side who didn’t roll over.

The next friendly is on Monday 17th July as we travel to Evesham United.
