Last Minute Agony for Young Robins

Cheltenham Town U18's lost their penultimate EFL Youth Alliance Southwest Division fixture away at Bournemouth after conceding a last minute goal.

The young Robins were unlucky to lose after fighting back from two goals down as Jacob Nutting scored a brace. Cheltenham were 2-0 down and a man down at half time after Josh Thomas was shown a straight red card in the 25th minute.
But Ashleigh Hopkins' side showed great spirit to draw level in the second half and also hit the crossbar twice as well as the post.

Bournemouth then netted a 97th minute winner to take all three points but Hopkins was proud of his players despite the late defeat, "We made some tactical changes at half time and I was extremely happy with the players as they showed great character and work rate to draw level with a man down," said Hopkins.

"Matt Bower also displayed quality in the heart of the defence and we were unlucky not to win it," he added.

The Cheltenham Town youth team came into the game off the back of an impressive 5-1 friendly victory at Clevedon Town midweek. The match was played in preparation for next season and to help develop and gel players from the U15's up to the U18's.

Cheltenham Town U18's will play their final league match at home to Newport County in a rescheduled fixture. The game will take place on Saturday the 4th of February at Seasons Training Ground and is an 11am kick off.
