MATCH PREVIEW: Cheltenham V Bradford

16 January 2017

Checkatrade Trophy

This coming Tuesday, 17th January, sees us take on Bradford City in the last 16 of the Checkatrade Trophy at the LCI Rail Stadium.

Tickets for the game are now on sale at a heavily discounted price of just £5 for adults and £3 for all concessions. Home fans will be in the re resource group (main) stand and paddock whilst away fans will be in the Hazlewoods stand. If you are buying your tickets on the turnstiles, please note that they need to be purchased with cash.

The winner of the tie will travel to play Oxford United in the quarter final stage, which is then just two wins away from the final at Wembley.

Before that, though, Gary Johnson’s men have the tough task of beating a Bradford side who sit fourth in the League One table.

Whilst we go into the match off the back of a week that saw us beat Leicester City U21s 6-1 and Accrington Stanley 3-0, The Bantams come into the game following a 1-0 loss to relegation-threatened Shrewsbury.

Bradford finished top of their Checkatrade Trophy group that contained Morecambe, Bury and Stoke U21s, and then went on to beat Cambridge 1-0 in the second round.

Their top scorer is Alexander Jones, who has scored nine league goals, with Jordy Hiwula-Mayifuila and Billy Clarke just behind him on seven and six goals respectively.

The game will be the first meeting between the sides since April 2013, when we played out a 0-0 draw with them in a League Two match.

Overall we’ve faced Bradford 10 times since 2006, winning three, drawing three and losing the other four.

The Robins are in good form and have the chance to reach the last eight of the competition, so make sure you take advantage of the cheap ticket prices and come on down to cheer them on!
