Liam Davis Signs Contract with the Robins

30 January 2017

Welcome Liam

Cheltenham Town is delighted to announce the signing of Liam Davis on a contract until the end of the season.

The 30 year-old can play in defence or midfield and is registered in time to be available for selection tomorrow and could make his Cheltenham debut at Luton Town if international clearance is received in time.

Liam spent time as a youngster at Fulham and Coventry before extended spells with Northampton and Oxford.

Current Robins' boss Gary Johnson signed Davis for Yeovil in the Championship back in 2013. He stayed with the club until the summer of 2015 and has most recently spent time in Sweden with Gothenburg-based club, GAIS.

The club would like to thank the Robins Trust for helping to enable this deal to be signed. We were coming close to reaching our "salary cap" and so an added investment in the club from the Trust allowed us to complete the signing.

Clubs are able to spend 55% of their total revenue on players' salaries under the EFL Salary Cost Management regulations but the additional investment from the Trust enabled the deal to go ahead.

We'll have exclusive reaction to the new signing from Gary and Liam on Robins TV and here on the club website later this afternoon. Welcome Liam!
