Cheltenham Town beat Bournemouth in the Central League

Cheltenham Town ran out 5-1 winners over Bournemouth in an action-packed Central League game at Seasons.

A strong first half showing saw The Robins 4-0 up at half time thanks to two goals from Dan Holman, one from James Dayton and an own goal.

Bournemouth did get one back on 71 minutes when Ndjoli scored from the penalty spot to give The Cherries a glimmer of hope.

But Holman got his third, and Cheltenham’s fifth, soon after to round off an impressive performance from Russell Milton’s team.

The Robins had all of the early possession and were unlucky not to be ahead when George Lloyd’s clever finish was ruled out for offside.

It didn’t take the home side long to go in front though as after quarter of an hour the ball fell to Dayton on the edge of the box, and he smashed it into the bottom right corner of the net.

Just a minute later it was 2-0 as Holman was played clean through on goal, and he took it around the Bournemouth goalkeeper before slotting the ball in.

Midway through the first half the lead was extended even further when good play from Jordan Cranston saw him put a dangerous cross into the box that was diverted into his own net by Gillela.

Five minutes before the break Bournemouth gave the ball away on the edge of the box to Dayton, and he laid it off to Holman to stick it in the top corner and make it 4-0 to Cheltenham at half time.

After the interval The Cherries put in a much improved performance and got a goal back with 20 minutes to go, as Ndjoli was brought down inside the box by Calum Kitscha and he then stepped up put the resulting penalty in the bottom left corner.

Not long after, though, Holman completed his hat-trick and completely killed the game off after the Bournemouth goalkeeper spilled the ball, and he picked it up on the edge of the box and stuck it in the top corner.
