O'Shaughnessy set to return home to Finland

21 December 2017

Defender Daniel O’Shaughnessy is set to return to his homeland in the New Year.

Finland international O’Shaughnessy, 23, joined the Robins in July 2016 after impressing on trial and has made 49 appearances for the club.

However, the club has now agreed terms in principle to release him and allow him to return home to join a club in Finland.

Manager Gary Johnson said: “We are quite a long way down the line with an agreement for Dan to return home.

“Dan came to us and expressed an interest to go back to Finland. He has been over here a little while now and he wasn’t getting regular games. So we have, in principle, agreed to let him go to this club in Finland.

“It is not finalised yet, because we can’t until the New Year. But all parties are happy with him going to a particular club in Finland so he will leave us come the start of January with our best wishes for the future.”
