Once in a blue moon: special kit revealed

1 December 2017

Here it is, our special one-off blue kit to face Crewe Alexandra on Saturday, December 9.

We'll be wearing it to raise awareness of the British Lung Foundation, the only UK charity looking after the nation’s lungs.

The event has been designed to create a show of togetherness for the club's fitness coach Ian Hutton and his fiancee Vicky Veness, who was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer earlier this year.

We'd like to take this opportunity and thank our fantastic sponsors that have kindly agreed to step aside for the occasion and allow the charity's emblem take centre stage.

Simon Masding, Sales Director at the club's main sponsor Mira said, “We're proud of Kohler Mira's long term association with Cheltenham Town, and our involvement within the local community and various charitable organisations.

"We wish great success to the British Lung Foundation and are delighted to donate the front of shirt sponsorship on this occasion to support such a worthy cause.”

Richard Lewis at RK Lewis, our shorts sponsors, added: "RK Lewis Transport are proud to support the British Lung Foundation, many people don’t realise how important charities are until they need them."

And Roger Marchant at Marchant Coaches, who sponsor the back of the shirt added, "We are always happy to support Cheltenham Town Football Club and we hope it is a successful day for the supporters and the British Lung Foundation.

Kit supplier Errea have also been fantastic, turning around the blue strip at short notice.

"Errea Sport are delighted to have been able to play a small part in supporting such a worthy cause and wish the club and the event organisers all the best for a successful day," said Tim Barnard.

So what's happening?

We want the community to come together a week tomorrow in support of a great cause.

The players will warm up in special T-shirts and play in the one-off blue kit at home for the first time in our history.

We will be urging the supporters to show their colours in blue. Our scoreboard will change colour, as will our social media.

There will be a 'Fans Fest' to build up the atmosphere before the match with DJ Shippers, and the Robins Trust will be auctioning one of the match-worn shorts immediately afterwards.

The rest will be auctioned at a later date with every penny going to the charity.

There will be a bucket collection by members of our youth team, Robins Trust members and representatives of the British Lung Foundation.

We'll be realising more plenty more details between now and the match at the LCI Rail Stadium, so keep your eyes peeled for information as we build up to the special event.

Make a donation

Supporters can donate £3 to the British Lung Foundation by simply texting CTFC17 £3 to 70070, and every penny will go directly to the charity. It's open now and will remain so until after the game on December 9. We can make a difference today.
