Confident Atangana pleased to be back playing

23 December 2017

Midfielder Nigel Atangana admitted he was ;feeling more confident' after putting in a man-of-the-match display in Cheltenham Town's convincing 2-0 league triumph at Barnet.

First half goals from Kevin Dawson and Carl Winchester helped the Robins to a first away win in two months.

And impressive Frenchman Atangana shone in a dominant midfield display at the Hive Stadium.

"I was pleased to start because I've had a few injuries and haven't been fit enough to start a game and play 90 minutes," said Atangana.

"After today I'm feeling fully fit again and very happy about my performance after the win.

"I was worried about the game, but after this performance I'm feeling more confident.

"When you're not playing for a while you have to produce," he added. "Obviously I have to show what I'm doing in training is what the gaffer and fans expect.

"I know my qualities and when I'm not fit I can't play my football, but today I was fully fit and I'm very pleased.

"It was nice to win before Christmas and now we are all focused on our Tuesday game against Yeovil and the one after against Newport."
