Manager Gary Johnson believes there will be huge competition for places right across his squad after a series of signings ahead of deadline day.
Bristol City trio Taylor Moore, Joe Morrell and Freddie Hinds all signed on loans on Wednesday morning.
Experienced goalkeeper Scott Flinders then agreed a move earlier today (Thursday).
“You need a busy squad competing for places and I think I am close to that now.
“At any club there is going to be competition. Some people flight and some don’t and you want to find out those that won’t fight.
“We have a pretty young group at the moment and you are always looking for that experienced person too.
“Scott (Flinders) certainly fits the bill with over 400 league and cup games. He has been training with us and he has still got his youthful enthusiasm - he has been throwing himself about.
“Reece (Lovett) is going to be a top quality goalkeeper, but he is a bit young yet to go with a young team.
“I have bought Scott in and he will compete with Flatty (Jon Flatt) for a place.”
The gaffer admitted he had also been pleased the first impressions made by Bristol City loanees.
“They are all great lads who have come in, good personalities,” he said.
“It’s a great opportunity for the Bristol lads. They will be in the squad every week, they might be in the 11, they might come on and they might come off.
“They are three potentially very good players for the Championship that I am sure will make an impact at our level.”
“We might not be done yet, you never know,” added Johnson about any further additions.
“There might be some that go out too, we can still loan out to conference clubs after the window so that is handy.
“People want to play football and if they are not getting games they have got to move on to where they can get games.”
