Alex Cooper signs for the Robins

8 October 2016

New Recruit

The Club is pleased to announce the signing of free agent Alex Cooper on a contract until January 6th 2017.

Cooper, a left sided player, is registered in time to play in today's game at Accrington Stanley and is in the match day squad.

The 24 year old former Liverpool player was most recently at St. Mirren in Scotland and has also had spells with Falkirk and Ross County.

A Scotland Youth international himself, Alex is the son of former Scotland international Neale Cooper.

Cooper was born in Birmingham but grew up in Scotland and began his career with Ross County. Premier League giants Liverpool reportedly paid a six figure fee to sign him from Ross and he spent three years at Anfield, although his progress towards the first team was disrupted by injury. He returned to Ross County in 2011 and played for The Staggies in the Scottish Premier League, later joining Falkirk and appearing in their 2015 Scottish Cup final squad.

We'll have Gary's reaction for you soon but for now - meet the new player by watching his first interview on Robins TV here:
