LCI Rail, Mark Yates and Scott Brown join Crowdfunder

LCI Rail this morning became the latest business to join the club’s Crowdfunder.

We launched our campaign last Monday and to date have raised almost ÂŁ36,000 towards the cost of a new digital scoreboard for the ground, also sponsored by LCI Rail.

The railway civil engineering company are big supporters of the Robins (above) and have pledged for the use of the pitch and facilities in the close season, subject to availability.

Former club captain and manager Mark Yates also played a big role, contacting the club over the weekend with an offer to help with the campaign.

Many former players have been in touch in the past few days and followed the likes of John Finnigan and Grant McCann who last week played their part in getting us off to a flier.

The ex-midfielder, who played 227 times for the club scoring 21 goals, has very generously donated his framed England C shirt and cap from the occasion he played Wales and it will now go proudly on display in the LCI Rail offices in Tewkesbury as part of the reward.

It’s yet another great example of supporters, local businesses and former players working together to make something special for the club.

"The scoreboard was always a big thing for Colin Farmer so I was delighted to help, and I’m delighted to see the response the club has got,” he said.

“Supporters at clubs like Cheltenham are always asked to dig deep a lot but the fact that businesses have got involved with the supporters on this is really great. I’m glad I can help.

“I can't particularly remember the game but to play for the England C team was a great. There were a few players from the club who featured at the time.”

Chairman Paul Baker was thrilled with this morning’s development and has offered the use of the LCI Rail Stadium as an exclusive reward on the campaign.

That includes the pitch for a private game, use of the changing rooms and the bar afterwards in the close season (subject to availability).

It’s limited to one, so if there’s a local business who would be interested in pledging for it they should be quick.

Former goalkeeper and firm fans’ favourite Scott Brown has also played his part, sending us yet another precious piece of club memorabilia for the cause.

So the company that pledge for the use of the pitch at the LCI Rail Stadium will also receive Scott Brown’s framed shirt and medal from the 2006 Play-Off Final win over Grimsby.

We hope someone will join the campaign, enjoy a great day at the ground and give Browny’s shirt and medal a lovely new home.

LCI Rail has joined Funky Warehouse, Bence Builders Merchants, Abbey Business Group, LCP Painting, the Crown Inn at Kemerton, Robins Trust, Gloucestershire Echo, Spice Lodge, P&S Decorators, Dulux Decorator Centre Cheltenham, the Mark Walby Band, SILO AML Compliance Software and Enchanted Tea Rooms on the campaign.

Drop John Finnigan a line on 01242 573558 (ex 3) or at info@ctfc.com if you want to find out how you could get involved.
