Report: Cheltenham 4-0 Woking

Dan Holman grabbed all four goals as Cheltenham saw off mid-table Woking 4-0.

Holman grabbed two goals either side of half-time as the Robins won their first match out of the last four.

Cheltenham still remain two points clear at the top of the table as Forest Green won away at Gateshead.

Contrary to the final score it was the visitors who had the first chance of the game. In the seventh minute, dangerous looking winger Bruno Andrade closed in on the 18 yard box but his shot blazed over the bar as well as the Auto Village stand.

Asa Hall had the first of the Robins' chances against Woking when his whipped shot from the outside of the boot went inches wide of Jake Cole's right post.

Dan Holman followed that up minutes later but, just like Andrade, he sent his shot high over the bar.

Home debutant Jon Flatt was called into action on the 17th minute when he got down low to parry away John Goddard's low driven shot.

Centre-back Cameron Burgess went close to grabbing his first Cheltenham goal in the 19th minute, his header from Jack Munn's corner, however, went just over the bar.

Flatt again was to thank for keeping the score at 0-0, he pulled off a miraculous diving save to palm away Goddard's shot from the left.

John Goddard was quickly becoming the main attacking outlet for the visitors in the first half, especially when his venomous shot was blocked away for a Woking corner. Luckily for Cheltenham nothing of that set-piece.

On the 32nd minute, the Robins were finally in front. Asa Hall flicked a ball over the centre backs Jones and Ricketts and following a dodgy bounce Dan Holman lashed home past Jake Cole against his former club. That goal took Holman's league goal tally to 20 for the season.

Six minutes later and the combination of Asa Hall and Dan Holman came to fruition again as the Robins doubled their lead. Hall knocked down Jack Munn's corner to Holman six yards out and his powerful shot was too much for Cole as he grabbed his 21st goal of the season.

Jack Barthram looked to grab his first goal of the season but his long range shot skied over the bar.

At the break, the Robins looked on course to win their first game in four and keep their place at the top of the table.

Into the second half and Cheltenham could have been out of sight within three minutes. An unmarked Danny Wright found Jack Munns on the right hand side of the box but Munns' shot was saved well by Jake Cole in the Woking net.

In the 52nd minute, somehow the Robins couldn't make it 3-0. James Rowe played in a whipped in ball from the left which was headed across goal by Kyle Storer almost onto the goal line and when it fell to Danny Wright he couldn't stab it in and the ball was eventually cleared away by Chris Arthur.

On the 59th minute Cheltenham moved further out of sight as Holman grabbed his third of the game. Good work from striking counterpart Danny Wright saw his cross headed home by Holman at the near post as the points were all but sewn up.

On the 64th minute, Holman moved away from hat-trick hero status as he got his and Cheltenham's fourth of the game. He, foolishly, was left unmarked on the right hand side of the box and calmly slotted it past Jake Cole.

Asa Hall, quite rightly, went off to rapturous applause in the 67th minute when he was replaced by Harry Pell as the Robins looked to make sure of the result. Billy Waters was introduced in the 69th minute as he replaced a cramp-stricken James Rowe.

Even though the Robins were 4-0 up Jon Flatt was called into action on the 78th minute when he palmed away Joe Quigley's curled shot.
Into the final 10 minutes and the Robins had chances in quick succession to make it 5-0. Billy Waters' shot was cleared off the line, the rebound fell to Holman who couldn't put it away and then George McLennan had his shot cleared away.

McLennan was barged off the pitch into the opposing dugout by substitute Godfrey Poku and after a brief spell on the side-lines came back onto the pitch.

The Robins looked comfortable in the remaining minutes as the win kept them at the top of the table.
