Cheltenham Town Reserves drew 1-1 with their Peterborough United counterparts today in a competitive Central League Fixture at the training ground.A Robins side made up of first team and U18s players competed well against a Peterborough starting 11 made up of 10 first team squad players.
In an even first half, both teams had good chances to score, Aaron Williams hitting the post for the visitors whilst Jack Munns and Koby Arthur shot inches wide for Cheltenham.
Peterborough then had a great chance to take the lead as they were awarded a penalty after a clumsy tackle inside the box, how Williams sent his penalty wide of the right hand post to keep the scores 0-0 at half-time.
Calum Kitscha, the Robins' captain on the day, produced a fine save early in the second half before Cheltenham took the lead in the 69th minute thanks to a fine individual goal from youngster Joe Hance. The striker broke down the left before shifting the ball onto his right foot and bending a shot into the top corner from 20 yards, making it 1-0.
The game opened up towards the end as both teams tired on a wet pitch and Peterborough, after threatening for an extended period, finally found the equaliser when Adil Nabi smashed home from close distance to rescue a point in the 87th minute.
Cheltenham legend and Peterborough first team Manager Grant McCann was there watching his team as they pushed for a late winner but it wasn't to be as the match ended 1-1.
