In memory of Colin

3 August 2016

The rise and fall and rise again of Cheltenham Town FC

Today we all learned of the unbelievably sad news of Vice-Chairman Colin Farmer's death. He was a great man who did so much for our club and touched so many lives.

The number of messages and tributes that have been coming in all day is incredible - he truly was loved by so many people, all of whom are so thankful for what he has done.

It is very difficult to know how best to honour such a man, but the Gaffer, Gary Johnson, had an idea. This is by no means the only tribute we will pay to Colin, but it is one small gesture.

Fans who have purchased a copy of the "Champions" fly-on-the-wall documentary will have seen a video shown to the players in the changing room before the pivotal match with Halifax. The video, created by coach Tim Bell, documents the rise of the club through the southern leagues all the way up to League 1, including the greatest moments in our history, Wembley and play-off wins and also features some familiar faces.

It also shows Cheltenham's fall out of the English Football League in 2015, before focusing on what last year's group had achieved up until the Halifax game. As you all know (and will soon see why), the players came out truly motivated for the game, winning and sending the club back into the EFL, sparking scenes of pure jubilation.

This video was only intended to be shown to the players and the documentary (if successful), but Gary has commissioned Robins TV to show you it in Colin's memory. Tim has updated the video to honour Colin and also document the final few glorious weeks of last season.

As said by Paul Godfrey earlier today, Colin was such a huge part of bringing the club to where it is now, including the appointment of Gary Johnson, so this video below helps to show why we owe him so much.

Thank you Colin, we will all miss you.
