Chairman Paul Baker's tribute to Colin Farmer

Devastating loss to the club

Chairman Paul Baker's tribute to his late friend Colin Farmer:

It is impossible to describe what a huge loss Colin will be to everyone who was lucky enough to know him, my immediate thoughts are with his family whom he loved dearly.

He will be a huge loss to Cheltenham Town Football Club for whom he served as a Director for nearly 30 years, he loved the club with a passion, he worked tirelessly for it in so many ways and leaves a formidable legacy in the form of the new stands built under his guidance and the offices and hospitality suite built largely by him. No one will ever know how great his contribution was because he was involved in so many ways.

Match days and Board meetings will never be the same, he was always great company, always had a story to tell and his knowledge of football was immense. He was a huge support for me personally, never seeking the headlines or appearing in photographs, he never sought personal praise or credit, he simply got on with the job and our football club has unquestionably been considerably enhanced by his massive contribution.

Only last Sunday we were enjoying his friendly company at Bristol Rovers, he was so looking forward to the new season but I am so pleased that he enjoyed so much pleasure and happiness at the team’s fantastic success last season, he more than anybody deserved and earned that success. I am personally devastated, he will never be forgotten and rest assured his contribution will be suitably recognised in a permanent way at the stadium where he spent so many happy and at times difficult and challenging years.
