Cheltenham Town manager Russell Milton after the 3-0 home defeat by Plymouth Argyle:

I thought we were okay for half an hour then they scored their first goal right through the middle of us and it’s been indicative of how we’ve been really. We’ve been good in patches and when we’ve not we’ve been punished.

The idea was for us to put an attacking player on then take the game more to them and when we did that they stepped up the play, like the good confident side they are.

I thought we were okay until the goal because they didn’t create much or do much in the first half, but that’s how games change. We had a couple of opportunities that didn’t go for us, they took theirs and we didn’t take ours. Pretty much in both boxes is where it counts.

Our idea was to stay in the game, Eliot (Richards) works both ways when he plays out wide, but it didn’t quite click for us in the second half.

The second goal was from a deflection, but it was a good switch of play from them. The shot was on target and it deflected over Trev (Carson) and went in and that gives us a little bit more to climb. We tried to look at ways doing it but we couldn’t quite pull it off today.

For half an hour we were good and felt that we could get something here if a couple of things go for us at the right end of the pitch and we’re off and running. It was too easy for them to get forward and pick a pass out right down the middle, it was a good take from (Reuben) Reid but I was disappointed with it.

I’ve not seen the results but no doubt I will, but if we are bottom we can’t get any lower than that. We’ve got to go to York on Friday and put in a good performance.

We’ve got to start winning, I’ve said that in the dressing room now, so the players know that.

We’ve got to get amongst it when we’re next in and get people going again, get them doing what they enjoy. They ground us down at the end of the day and pick ourselves and get on with it.

There’s enough in the dressing room, we just need to get enough on the pitch too. We’ve done it we’ve had some good performances. We’ve not got the results we’ve deserved at times. In the next seven games we’ve just got to go for it.

I’m sick to the pit of my stomach where we are at the minute. They all care, we’ve got to pick ourselves get on with it and prepare for York.
