VIDEO: Boss Russell Milton happy with Robins' progress

19 March 2015

Cheltenham Town manager Russell Milton ahead of Exeter City at home:

It was a good point at Portsmouth on Tuesday (2-2 draw) and we know we now have to back it up at home with a positive result against Exeter and that’s what we’ll be aiming to do.

Wins are essential, we all know that. Looking at the form table we are 13th, which isn’t bad because when this squad came together we were second bottom. If we can do that again and more, we’ll be fine.

I’ve set targets for us and I’d love the players to look at the form table rather than the league table.

The lads are fine, we are looking tough to beat and I’ve just told them to worry about the next thing they do, not the bigger picture. Let us worry about that as staff.

To be disappointed to have a point from Newport and a point from Portsmouth shows we have progressed.

Exeter will try and play football, as they do throughout the club and full credit to Paul Tisdale for putting that in place.  It’s good to see him bucking the trend of the managerial merry-go-round.

We have one defeat in six and while we’d have liked more wins, we have a good system that suits us, allowing us to use our strengths.

It’s all about key moments in games and we’ve been punished but we’ll keep pushing forward.

Will Packwood is fine. He went back to Birmingham on Wednesday and they are fine for him to carry on and play on Saturday.

The fans have been superb and it makes a real difference for the boys, so we'll need them again.
