Ryan Burge to feature in reserve fixture against Plymouth

23 March 2015

Ryan Burge is one of two trialists who will start Cheltenham Town's reserve team match against Plymouth Argyle at Seasons on Tuesday afternoon (2pm kick-off).

The Cheltenham-born 26-year-old has been without a club since leaving Newport County at the end of last season, but he has recovered from an injury and has been training with the Robins since last week.

Creative midfielder Burge started his career at Birmingham City, joining the Robins for a trial in the summer of 2008 after leaving St Andrew's. He was subsequently offered a deal by boss Keith Downing only to have it withdrawn after Martin Allen took over as manager.

He has since played for Barnet, Machida Zelvia in Japan, Worcester City, Jerez Industrial as part of the Glenn Hoddle Academy in Spain, Doncaster Rovers, Oxford United, Hyde, Port Vale and Newport, for whom he faced Cheltenham last season. Burge is the grandson of the late Rod Burge, who spent more than 25 years on the board at Whaddon Road.

The other trialist in the squad for the Final Third Development League Cup group fixture is Dutch wide player Andre Ntambwe.

Entry is free for supporters, but please note there are no toilet or refreshment facilities available at Seasons.

Cheltenham Town Reserves (from): M Gould, C Craddock, N Rowe, J Deaman, J Wynter, J Hanks, R Burge, A Ntambwe, M Manset, O Sterling-James, K Ferdinand, D Reynolds, L Thompson, R Daly, A Dinsmore.
