The trustees of the late Maureen Mary Jones have nominated Cheltenham Town's Community Trust as the beneficiary of a £10,000 donation.
The trustees could see the good work the Trust have been doing in the area and felt that Ms Jones, who lived close to the Robins' home ground on Whaddon Road, would have wished to make a donation, and also raise morale following the club’s relegation from the Football League.
Trust director Simon Perruzza said: "It was obviously a total surprise when I opened the envelope, I was absolutely overwhelmed as you can probably imagine.
“We have worked very hard over the years to develop a very comprehensive programme which has engaged thousands of children, young people and families over the years.
“Projects are very hard to fund especially in times of austerity and this donation will go a long way in helping the Trust achieve its objectives – making a difference to people's lives – which I am sure Ms Jones would have wanted.”
