Cheltenham Town analyst joins Notts County

22 June 2015

Goodbye and good luck to a big character!

Cheltenham Town performance analyst Craig Cope has left the club to take up a similar role at League Two Notts County.

A masters student in sports performance analysis at the University of Chichester, 22-year-old Craig has contributed a huge amount of work during his time as part of the backroom staff at Whaddon Road over the past two seasons.

His duties included filming matches and training sessions, allowing the manager to show key moments during pre-match meetings and half-time discussions, compiling information on forthcoming opponents and preparing motivational videos to be played before games.

"I have really enjoyed my two seasons working with all at the club," Craig said.  "I am devastated it ended the way it did, but I love the club and hope they can bounce back straight away.

"I'd like to wish all the players and staff the very best for the future and of course the fans, who I have enjoyed interacting with and getting to know – they were brilliant and I'll certainly be back to support the lads when I can."

A larger than life character, Stourport-on-Severn based Craig always went above and beyond the call of duty for the cause and we would like to thank him for his efforts and wish him all the best with his new challenge at Meadow Lane.

His replacement in the role has been identified and will be announced very soon.
