Defender Matt Taylor has today signed for Newport County after being allowed to leave Cheltenham Town on a free transfer.
Formerly a goalkeeper in non-league football, Taylor has played in the Football League as a centre-half for Exeter City, Charlton Athletic and Bradford City along with a loan spell at Colchester United.
The 33-year-old joined Cheltenham last summer on a two year deal and was immediately appointed captain by boss Mark Yates.
He made 36 appearances for the Robins, scoring one goal in the 1-1 home draw with AFC Wimbledon and was made available for transfer by Gary Johnson at the end of the campaign.
We would like to wish Matt all the best at his new club and every success for the future.
