Milton: The boys are flying ahead of 'Red and White Day'

27 February 2015

Russell Milton says the atmosphere in the Cheltenham Town camp is buoyant ahead of Saturday’s crunch home clash with Tranmere Rovers.

Boss Milton has made his first trio of new signings, with Pablo Mills, Matt Sparrow and Shaun Harrad added to the squad and all expected to start.

They will add a total of more than 1,000 League appearances’ worth of experience to the side and Milton cannot wait to see them play.

"The boys are flying and the three additions have given everyone a boost too,” Milton said. "I am very pleased to bring the boys in and they have all played in higher leagues, experiencing all kinds of situations and they won’t be fazed by this.

"Pablo and Matt have been captains in the past and Shaun has a goalscoring record that  speaks for itself. They tick all the boxes for what I was looking for and everyone I have
spoken to has given them a glowing reference.”

Milton went to watch Tranmere play at Portsmouth on Tuesday night, when they led 2-0 before eventually succumbing to a 3-2 defeat at Fratton Park.

"Tranmere put up a good fight as I am sure they will on Saturday because they are fighting for their lives, like we are,” he said. "They’ll come here in determined mood and we are not expecting anything to be easy in the games we have coming up.

"But the boys fully understand the importance of the situation we are in and I can guarantee they will be giving absolutely everything to make sure we pull through this together.”
