Amari Morgan-Smith raring to go ahead of opener at Lincoln City

7 August 2015

Striker is fighting fit for big kick-off

Striker Amari Morgan-Smith made his return from injury in playing 45 minutes during the friendly defeat at AFC Wimbledon and was certainly glad to be back when we caught up with him on Thursday.

"On a personal level I'm ready to go, I've got over my injury now so I'm fit and raring to go," he said.

He missed the two previous friendlies due to a slight quad injury but is back and looks set to make his league debut for the Robins on Saturday at Lincoln City.

The summer signing was confident of being able to last the 90 minutes if required despite the loss of game time in the lead up to the season, "I'll always give the most I can and I'll always try give and as much effort as I can and if I blow up I blow up. But yeah i'm fit and ready to go."

Morgan-Smith is also very positive about how pre-season has gone for the whole squad, "We've done well. Not a lot of people have picked up severe injuries, just little niggles that you'll always get. It's all about overcoming then and getting the minutes under your belt which is what we have done. All of the lads have been raring to go since day one and we can't wait to get started."

The excitement at the prospect of a new, hopefully successful season was also clear: "It's like a little kid starting school again and we just want get on the pitch and get the first 3 points on the board."

Amari and the other summer signings will be hoping to build on the positive summer when they kick-off this Saturday versus Lincoln, read the match preview here
