Morecambe Rewind

4 September 2014

We look back on our last encounter with Morecambe at the Globe Arena.

The Robins head north this weekend as they prepare to take on Morecambe at the Globe Arena.

Like Cheltenham Town our opponents this weekend have also had a fantastic start to the season despite the bookies' predictions and fans travelling to the game could have an entertaining game on their hands. Morecambe lost for the first time in the league last weekend against Tranmere whilst Mark Yates' Robins remain unbeaten.

Our last encounter with the Shrimps was back in December at the Globe Arena itself. Cheltenham ran out 1-0 winners for the first time in Morecambe's new stadium and it was Troy Brown who dealt the killer blow.

Cheltenham had been the better side throughout the fixture but were starting to believe they would have to settle for a point as Morecambe continued to frustrate them. On 80 minutes however they struck. A foul on Jermaine McGlashan gave Matt Richards the opportunity to drop a freekick onto the head of Sido Jombati who, in turn, headed back across goal into the path of Troy Brown who smashed it into the back of the net to seal victory and take home all three points.
