Places are still available on the Cheltenham Town Football Club Full Time Education Programme - BTEC Level 3 in Sports Studies 2014-15

We are once again recruiting 17 students between the ages 16-18 to become part of the Futsal and Education Scholarship Programme for September 2014. Students enrol onto a 2-year full time education programme, studying Level 3 BTEC in Sport (Equivalent to 3 A levels), whilst competing in a national Futsal league representing the club.

Cheltenham Town Community Programme are established as one of the top schemes in the Football League Trust Education & Futsal Programme.

The Futsal and Education Scholarship Programme, going into its fourth year, delivers a first class, full time education alongside professional Futsal coaching. The Scholars study at the football club and play competitive Futsal fixtures against other professional Football Clubs including Southampton, West Brom & Cardiff City. All students are guaranteed to play in the matches at every fixture.

The programme aims to provide 16-18 year olds with the underpinning knowledge and expertise in the field of sport, for students with aspirations to have a career in sport, sports coaching, P.E Teaching, Physiotherapy, Sports Management or Sports Science.

We have run the Level 3 BTEC in Sports Studies now for three successful years, with a large percentage of the scholars achieving grades high enough to enrol to universities across the country. The course is Fully Funded (Free) and all students are registered with Swindon Academy Sixth Form.

Olly Roberts (Development Officer) said: “The Education & Futsal programmes are great for young, sports focused students, allowing them to progress into roles such as personal training, sports coaching, and teaching. The combination of focused classroom based learning, alongside FA qualified Futsal coaching and games is enjoyed by all our students.”

Aaron Lowe (Student) said: “The first I heard about the Futsal an Education was on www.ctfc.com. I'm very glad that I took the opportunity to apply as it has been a great experience for me, both playing a new and enjoyable sport, to being able to gain a qualification that can help me in he future. The teachers and coaches are brilliant and all push you to achieve your best on and off the pitch and they also support you to reach your goals and targets for both education and Futsal.”

The 17 players will follow the same coaching patterns as the other Cheltenham Town FC Scholars, with a typical weekly schedule consisting of 2 training sessions, 10-12 hours of Education and a fortnightly fixture in the Futsal National Youth League, as well as receiving full Cheltenham Town kit.
