Neil Grayson souvenir edition of The Robin on Saturday

31 October 2014

Robins legend's 50th birthday marked by special edition of The Robin

The official programme for Saturday's match between Cheltenham Town and York City is dedicated to Neil Grayson on his 50th birthday.

Grayson appeared for both clubs, making one substitute appearance for his home city of York, but he went on to establish himself as one of the greatest players in Cheltenham's history.

The special edition includes an interview with the man himself, who reflects on his hugely successful four years at Whaddon Road, along with a look back on his long career by Cheltenham director, club secretary and historian Paul Godfrey.

There are contributions from Grayson's old team mate at both Hereford and Cheltenham John Brough, Forest Green's press officer Richard Joyce, Glapwell match day secretary Paul Hepworth, Northampton and Echo reporter Jefferson Lake and lifelong Robins fan Jon Mundy, who all pay tribute to the great man. Chairman Paul Baker also devotes his programme notes to his memories of Grayson in a Robins shirt.

The Robin will be on sale around Whaddon Road tomorrow, priced £3 and it also includes an exclusive interview with York skipper Russ Penn ahead of his return to Cheltenham.
