Wednesday night’s match is the first occasion on which Steve Cotterill has brought a team to Whaddon Road for a competitive game.
He has been back here before with Burnley and Bristol City but only for pre-season friendlies.
Our only other competitive meeting with him was in the penultimate week of the 2009-10 season when his Notts County team defeated the Robins 5-0 at Meadow Lane.
The match will be our eighth league or cup meeting with Bristol City and our second in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
The previous occasion was under its old guise as the Auto Windscreens Shield in January 2000 when City triumphed 3-1 in the second round at Ashton Gate.
Overall Cheltenham Town have taken part in 25 matches in the competition in its different forms since gaining promotion to the Football League in 1999.
Wednesday's game is our ninth appearance at the second round stage, although on only four occasions have we progressed further.
Our best performance was back in season 2005-06 when we reached the area semi-finals losing 1-0 at home to Colchester United.
Wednesday’s game is Cheltenham Town’s 22nd appearance in a live televised match.
The first occasion was the 1998 FA Trophy final against Southport at Wembley and the most recent was the play-off semi-final second leg against Northampton Town in 2013.
