Joe Hanks Extends Cheltenham Town Contract

29 May 2014

Joe Hanks has put pen to paper on a new contract here at Whaddon Road.

Midfield prospect Joe Hanks has signed a new one year contract here at Cheltenham Town.

Joe, 19, was offered a new contract by Mark Yates at the end of the 2013-14 season following an impressive loan spell at Gloucester City and two strong performances at the end of the season away at Rochdale and at home to Dagenham & Redbridge.

The Churchdown-based midfielder has now made 3 appearances for the club but Joe isn't get ahead of himself and he plans to work harder than ever to secure a first team place.

"I just continued playing my football and I was lucky enough to be given an opportunity at the end of the season," said Joe.

"I'll work hard over pre-season, hopefully impress and then you never know I may get a start out there. My pre-season has already started with Ian (Hutton) which is why I'm kitted up because I'm going straight there now! Ian has always been good with me so I'll keep working with him and see what happens."

Joe is a graduate of the Cheltenham Town Academy and secured his first professional contract last summer after impressive displays for the reserve and youth teams. He actually made his professional debut before that point though as a substitute in the 3-0 win over Exeter in October 2012.

He had loan spells with Bishop's Cleeve and Gloucester before returning to Whaddon Road to make his second appearance for the club away at Rochdale as a substitute. Joe then made his full debut in the final day of the season against Dagenham & Redbridge.
