First Team Coach Progress

20 May 2014

Paul Baker has confirmed that the club will be offering terms to a potential new coach later this week.

The hunt for a new first team coach is making good progress following interviews last week.

An interview process with three candidates for the first team coach role were held here at Whaddon Road last week and Paul Baker admitted to www.ctfc.com that terms would be offered to one of those candidates later this week.

"We've interviewed three candidates now - three really good candidates," said Paul.

"We will be making an offer to one of those candidates this week. The offer goes out to him and I hope he will accept."

A larger coaching team will of course support Mark Yates as he begins to rebuild his Robins team for a League Two campaign in 2014-15.

The appointment of Steve Elliott as a player/coach was announced here on www.ctfc.com yesterday and Paul explained that he was buoyed by Mark Yates' response to the changes in his management structure.

"I'm really excited about the new structure we are putting in place," added Paul.

"Mark has really bought into it and we had a board meeting last Friday and, without a doubt, Mark gave his best presentation yet to the board of directors. He is revitalised, refreshed, looking at new ideas and new options because with a bigger coaching team there is more that he can do.

"Steve Elliott was just the first piece in the jigsaw."
