Cheltenham Town Retained List: 4 Released

6 May 2014

Four senior players have today been released from the club following meetings with the manager.

Four senior players have been released following meetings with the manager earlier today.

We revealed the official retained list here on www.ctfc.com earlier today and four names on the released list were Sido Jombati, Sam Deering, Ed Williams and Ashley Vincent who were all out of contract following the 2013-14 campaign.

Sido Jombati joined the club back in July 2011 from non-league side Bath City and in his three years with the club he made 134 appearances (including as a sub) and scored 5 goals. The former Sporting Clube De Portugal full back quickly became a fan favourite and had an excellent first two seasons as a Robin but his form this season hasn't hit those heights and today he leaves the club.

Ashley Vincent re-joined the club last summer for his second spell as a Robin but in one season he only made 21 appearances (13 as a sub) and scored 2 goals. The former Port Vale and Colchester United winger's appearances for Cheltenham during both of his spells now sits at 152 and he has scored on 15 occasions.

Young attacking midfielder Ed Williams was handed his first professional contract last summer after impressing as a second year scholar in the club's Academy system. Williams failed to make a single appearance for the Robins but enjoyed good loan spells out with Evesham United and Gloucester City.

Attacking midfielder Sam Deering is another player who was informed of his release earlier today after two seasons with the Robins. Sam signed a two-year deal back in the summer of 2011 following his release from Barnet and in those two years he made 78 appearances but failed to register a single goal.

On behalf of the entire club we would like to thank Sido, Ed, Ashley and Sam for their efforts during their time with the club and we wish them the very best for their careers going forward.
