Cheltenham Town Retained List: 4 Offered New Deals

7 May 2014

Mark Yates has offered new contracts to four Cheltenham Town players following the release of his retained list.

Four players have been offered contracts as Mark Yates starts to re-build for the 2014-15 season.

Negotiations had already been underway with both Scott Brown and Jermaine McGlashan before Tuesday's individual meetings with Mark Yates but Joe Hanks and Steve Elliott were also offered new deals with the club with their contracts up this summer.

The four senior professionals will now consider their future before making their decisions.

Scott Brown has given Cheltenham Town a decade's worth of service and has much history with the club. Scott signed for the Robins as a former Wolves youngster and having had spells with Welshpool Town and Bristol City. Scott had to remain patient for his chance in the first team as the understudy to Shane Higgs but he was handed his debut in the FA Cup at home to Chester. When Higgs left Brown became the club's number one and has rarely been displaced since. To date Scott has made 287 appearances for the Robins and has become a real fan favourite with his effort both on and off the pitch.

Club captain Steve Elliott, as revealed here on www.ctfc.com, has been offered a player/coach position here at Whaddon Road. Steve signed in the summer of 2010 following his release from Bristol Rovers and has now made 175 appearances in just fours season with 8 goals to his name.

Young midfielder Joe Hanks is another who has been offered a contract by Mark Yates following what has been a tough but productive season. Joe has spent much of the season out on loan but it was his time with Gloucester City that proved most beneficial before he was recalled by Mark Yates to appear in the final two matches of the season. Joe, 19, is a Churchdown based footballer who signed his first professional contract just last summer after impressing in the Academy system.

Winger Jermaine McGlashan has also been offered new terms by manager Mark Yates. Jermaine signed for the Robins in January 2012 from Aldershot Town for an undisclosed fee and he has made 116 appearances with 13 goals during that time. Known for his pace and direct approach, Jermaine has become one of Cheltenham Town's most potent weapons.

As well as four senior professional being offered contracts there are also four professional contracts on the table for second year scholars James Bowen, Adam Powell, Harry Williams and Bobbie Dale who have been impressing in the youth team this season.
