A deflected shot off the body of Jamie Cureton handed Cheltenham Town a solid point away at Oxford United on Tuesday night.
The Robins had found themselves a goal down from Ryan Williams' low drive late on in the second half but Zack Kotwica's effort rebounded off Cureton and looped over Ryan Clarke to hand Cheltenham a draw on a cold night at the Kassam.
Cheltenham Town had actually started the game well but Oxford grew into the game and James Constable was pulling all the strings for the hosts. Despite that the first half was largely uneventful and it seemed a stalemate may well have been on the cards. The second half started much like the first had ended and Oxford were carving out the better chances but the introduction of Jamie Cureton and Zack Kotwica did give the Robins an added spark. A flick header from Cureton was only just pushed onto the post by goalkeeper Ryan Clarke and, from that chance, Oxford stole a goal at the other end.
Cheltenham re-grouped however and some good wing play from Kotwica allowed him to get a shot in at goal before Cureton's body looped the effort over the diving figure of Ryan Clarke and into the back of the net. The Robins had snatched a point from the jaws of Oxford.
