Sturridge 7/2 To Strike First Against Honduras

7 June 2014

Can England win their final pre-World Cup friendly? Check out the odds on Sky Bet.

The Three Lions will take on Honduras later today in their final pre-World Cup friendly at the Sun Life Stadium.

Once again their opponents are World Cup qualifiers but this will be the last chance that Roy Hodgson will have to experiment, tinker and make a statement ahead of the World Cup tournament. Two players who won't feature are Oxlade-Chamberlain (injury) and Raheem Sterling (suspension) so it will be interesting to see what kind of side will be selected.

The draw against Ecuador in midweek will have given England plenty to think about ahead of the tournament but a strong side will surely be on show tonight against Honduras and England are rightly favourites at 4/9. A draw is worth 100/30 and the outside shout of a Honduras win is 13/2.

Wayne Rooney's goal against Ecuador will have been greeted with a sigh of relief from the striker and his manager but Adam Lallana is certainly pushing the Manchester United forward for his spot in behind Daniel Sturridge. Lallana can play that role and the Southampton midfielder is 9/1 to pinch the first goal. Daniel Sturridge himself looks to have already booked his spot in the first team to face Italy after a sensational goal at Wembley against Peru and for the Liverpool hot shot to score first you are looking at 7/2 right now on Sky Bet. Glen Johnson will no doubt return to the right back spot after James Milners' shaky display and an ambitious bet for Johnson to score at any point during the 90 minutes is worth 7/1.

The results of these friendlies do not matter but winning can be a habit and Hodgson will be keen to go into the game with Italy with a win over Honduras under his belt. A tight game and a 2-1 win for England is a safe bet with odds of 15/2 but a more ambitious bet of a 3-0 England win is worth 17/2. Another draw at the Sun Life Stadium wouldn't be a disaster and another 2-2 scoreline gives you odds of 20/1 right now.

There are plenty of other odds available on Sky Bet for this game such as:

- Phil Jagielka to score first? 25/1
- Daniel Sturridge to score first and England to win 2-1? 20/1
- Steven Gerrard to score within the first 10 minutes? 18/1

Can the Three Lions go into the World Cup tournament with a win over Honduras? We think so and our bet of the game will be a 2-0 win with Danny Welbeck to score first. That bet is worth 20/1 on Sky Bet right now.
