Get Involved With The National Citizen Service

21 June 2014

Be a part of the National Citizen Service through our successful community programme.

The Cheltenham Town Community Programme are offering 30 places on the National Citizen Service this summer.

National Citizen Service (NCS) is a FREE government funded programme for ages 16-17 and takes place throughout August. The NCS allows young people to discover their potential which will include a variety of physical, personal and creative challenges. Young people will also learn leadership, communication skills and team work.

The programme culminates in a social action project, designed and delivered by young people in their local community, working alongside our very own Cheltenham Town Community Coaches.

The NCS is divided into 4 phases:

Phase 1: A residential outdoor activities week (in Pembrokeshire, Wales) designed to challenge, build confidence and develop your team skills. Those involved will be participating in activities such as water rafting, abseiling, canoeing and high ropes.

Phase 2: A local residential (Sheepscombe, Gloucestershire) to explore and develop the skills needed to make a difference. This will include completing an ASDAN coaching award, a community visit and team building activities.

Phase 3: Working with community and business leaders to design and plan your own project.

Phase 4: Making it happen. Carry out your project in the community.

Celebrate your NCS journey at an NCS Graduation Event!

All costs associated with the project such as residential accommodation, transport, food and equipment are covered by the government grant.
