England Favourites Ahead Of Ecuador Test

4 June 2014

The Sky Bet odds ahead of England's pre-World Cup friendly v. Ecuador in Miami this evening.

England's penultimate pre-World Cup friendly kicks off this evening in a clash with fellow qualifiers Ecuador.

The match, which kicks off at 8pm, will be the first of two friendlies played out in Miami and it will give Roy Hodgson the opportunity to experiment with his squad with a number of young players pushing for a starting spot in this summer's tournament.

England are favourites in this one (10/11) but Ecuador pose a very real threat and will be a tougher opponent that Peru proved to be at Wembley last week. For an Ecuador win you can get healthy odds of 3/1 but a draw wouldn't be out of the question and you can get odds of 12/5 right now on that result.

One of the major talking points going into the game is the form of Wayne Rooney. The English media seem to be building a case against the striker starting in Brazil but the Manchester United forward has been sidelined for a number of weeks and he will be given the opportunity to shine tonight, albeit from the left wing. Rooney to score first against Ecuador is 9/2 and you wouldn't put it past him with the eyes of a nation firmly rested upon his performance. Two further players looking to make an impact will be Rickie Lambert and Ross Barkley. New Liverpool signing Lambert looks like he will be spearheading the Three Lions attack and he is 5/1 to score first. Everton's Barkley is 3/1 to score at any point during the 90 minutes.

Plenty of England fans, including our own club secretary Paul Godfrey, have travelled out to Miami to support the Three Lions and Roy Hodgson will be keen to deliver a strong performance and a good result at the Sun Life Stadium. A steady 2-0 win for England is worth 7/1 but a more ambitious 3-1 victory is a tempting 18/1. Ecuador are not a bad side though with the likes of Antonio Valencia and Felipe Caicedo so a 1-1 draw at 5/1 wouldn't be a bad bet to place.

There are plenty of other odds available on Sky Bet for this game such as:

- England to win 2-1? 8/1
- Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to score first and either England to 2-1 or 3-1? 45/1
- Both Wayne Rooney and Rickie Lambert to score? 5/1

With Frank Lampard taking the armband tonight we think our bet of the evening will be for the outgoing Chelsea midfielder to score first and England to win 2-1. That bet is worth 55/1 on Sky Bet right now.
