Vaughan: I Play To Win

15 July 2014

Lee Vaughan chats with ctfc.com about the friendly at home to Bristol Rovers and his tough tackling style.

The Robins welcome Bristol Rovers back to Whaddon Road this evening for the third pre-season match of the summer.

Rovers were of course relegated down into the Conference in May and they will be looking to build confidence and momentum going into their campaign in relatively uncharted waters.

Mark Yates has confirmed this morning that a strong Robins side will be fielded, including Lee Vaughan, and the right-back believes tonight's opponents will provide tough competition.

"It's a another different test for us," he said.

"They should be near us fitness-wise and ability-wise maybe so it will be a good test. I think we'll be playing a strong side and we'll give it a real go."

Results in pre-season do not matter of course but the home support will still hope to see goals and another positive performance from the new-look Robins squad.

A loss to Wolves and a draw away at Evesham have made for intriguing viewing over the past week but no players has perhaps impressed more than Cheltenham's new signing from Kidderminster.

Lee's obvious passion for a tackle has been obvious to see but the he told ctfc.com that his tough tackling technique was something that came natural to him.

"I like to be competitive and you want to win every game," he explained.

"It's not something I really about because it just comes naturally. I just want to play the game to win and that's the case whether it's a friendly, training or a league game."
