Omari Sterling-James Snapped Up

21 July 2014

Winger Omari Sterling-James has been handed a six-month contract here at Whaddon Road.

Omari Sterling-James has signed a six-month contract this morning which will see him take his first steps into the Football League.

The young winger has had a trial spell here at Whaddon Road in which he played a big role in the friendly matches versus Evesham, Bristol Rovers and Leamington. His performances have earned him a short-term contract and Mark Yates is hoping he takes his opportunity.

"Omari has impressed since coming in," said Mark.

"He hasn't had any experience at all really. He has been at Birmingham and Walsall as a kid and didn't get a chance. He has impressed us during pre-season because he can do a bit of everything and he excites people.

"He has work to do, and plenty of it, but he has a great attitude and he wants to learn and improve. Hopefully we can give him that platform at some stage."

Omari, 20, is a Birmingham-born winger who started out with his hometown club's Academy before being moved into their development team. He had an extended trial with Walsall and had a spell with Alverchurch but it was his season-long spell with Redditch United last season where he started to catch the attention of a number of clubs with 13 goals.
