North: Players Look Good

14 July 2014

Shaun North sits down with ctfc.com to discuss pre-season and settling in at Whaddon Road.

Cheltenham Town first team coach Shaun North is settling into life at Whaddon Road quickly but there's plenty of work ahead for the start of the season.

Shaun's appointment was just one of many changes around the training ground this summer and he joined Mark Yates' staff alongside Steve Elliott who now has a contracted player/coach role.

The former Bristol Rovers and AFC Wimbledon coach started his new role with the Robins on the 1st July and already he believes the squad are making good progress towards the new competitive season.

"I think they're coming on fine, everyone is in good spirits and everyone's healthy at the moment," said Shaun.

"I felt we acquitted ourselves against Wolves quite well. We had a 5 or 10 minute spell when we conceded where we were a little bit rocky but other than that there have been one or two things we have been working on in training and they came out well."

The games come thick and fast at present but tomorrow night's clash at home to Bristol Rovers should offer a competitive match in which both teams will learn plenty about their players.

It has only been a short period for Shaun since his arrival but already he is in the deep end and loving every minute of it. He admitted he cannot wait until the start of the competitive season and paid tribute to everyone who had made him feel so welcome at his new club.

"Everybody has been absolutely brilliant to me," he explained.

"They couldn't have helped me out any more than they have. It is a fantastic environment and it has been a pleasure working here."
