2014 didn't start quite as planned for the Robins who dropped a lead and lost 2-1 away at Burton Albion this weekend.
Mark Yates' Cheltenham Town had weathered pressure well in the first half with Scott Brown making numerous saves to deny the Brewers but the Robins did have their chances although McGlashan put one effort over the bar and Dean Lyness saved well from Troy Brown's headed effort.
Cheltenham were the side to open the scoring however when Byron Harrison picked up on a Jason Taylor pass and finished well beyond Lyness in the Burton goal. That goal was welcome but it only served to stir up the Brewers and the hosts were soon back on level terms when substitute Dominic Knowles smashed an effort into the back of the net with another substitute, Zeli Ismail, causing trouble on the wing. The Burton players weren't satisfied with just a point however and the partnership of Ismail and Knowles struck again with the latter putting it beyond Brown after connecting well with his team-mate's low cross.
The Robins had thrown away a lead they had worked so hard for and, whilst the performance had positives, there will be disappointment not to have shut Burton Albion out.
