We can confirm that the 2014-15 home kit will have red and white stripes after gathering fan opinion.
The 2014-15 home kit will have red and white stripes following research done through www.ctfc.com over the last few weeks.Three different designs were published and we asked for supporter opinions on all three. All opinions were noted and reported back to the Board of Directors by the media department and the directors have made their decision.
We asked the Robins faithful for their opinions on the three designs using email, Twitter and Facebook and the red and white stripes came out on top in the opinion poll. 49% of supporters preferred the stripes overall whilst 39% were more fond of the Arsenal-style shirt with block red colours and white sleeves. The third option, a block red shirt, had a 12% return on favourable opinion.
All comments, including that of those in favour of Ruby, were reported back to the board and Robins chairman Paul Baker revealed that fan feedback had been the deciding factor.
"One of the reasons we chose the stripes was because of supporter feedback," said Paul.
"A significant majority of fans who expressed an interest preferred the stripe option to the other two options so I can genuinely say that was taken onboard. I have to say that the majority of directors felt stripes were the preferred option although two of the directors wanted the Arsenal colours.
"We had a genuine discussion about what the preferred option was but there is a lot of successful association with the stripes and the feedback from the fans was quite important in that."
Two designs have now been supplied by ERREA and once again we are asking supporters to give us their opinion on the two designs. Both designs are striped but there are subtle differences especially with the size of the stripes on each shirt.
