League leaders Chesterfield stunned the Robins with a 4-1 scoreline in Sky Bet League 2 on Tuesday night.
The Robins had started well against a Chesterfield side full of confidence but four goals in six minutes tore the Cheltenham backline to shreds as they sealed victory within the first half. Goals from Dan Gardner, Eoin Doyle, Ollie Banks and Liam Cooper left Mark Yates' side with a steep uphill task.
Cheltenham improved a lot in the second half and a Byron Harrison goal threatened the impossible but missed chances from Vincent and Gornell confirmed a heavy defeat leaving the Robins with their tails firmly between their legs.
