Zack Kotwica is hoping to force his way into Paul Buckle’s starting line-up after scoring a superb first goal for Cheltenham Town at Mansfield Town.
The Gloucester-born 18-year-old smashed a shot into the top right corner from outside the penalty area after a long throw-in was cleared to him, rescuing a point for the Robins at Field Mill.
Kotwica described it as the best goal he has ever scored and wants it to be the first of many for the club.
“That’s my best goal by far and being my first professional one makes it even better,” Kotwica said.
“When I scored I didn’t know what to do and I tried to get over to the fans, who were brilliant, but I couldn’t get away from Joe Hanks, who kept hold of me!
“The main thing is the result and it’s a good point for us, but I am obviously pleased with the goal and I want to kick on now.”
