Gary Lineker to visit Cheltenham Town for FA Cup tie against Dover

3 December 2014

England great set for Whaddon Road appearance

Cheltenham Town will be welcoming England goalscoring great Gary Lineker to Whaddon Road for Sunday's FA Cup second round tie against Dover Athletic.

The Match of the Day host will be filming a BBC documentary charting the story of this season's FA Cup.

Lineker is second to Sir Bobby Charlton in the list of all-time England goalscorers, with 48 from his 80 caps. He won the Golden Boot at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico with six strikes, following it up with another four at Italia '90 to become England's most prolific marksman at World Cup finals.

Well known for never receiving a card throughout a long career that saw him play with distinction for home city club Leicester, Everton, Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur, Lineker has become a highly respected broadcaster since hanging up his boots, fronting Match of the Day since 1999.

Kick-off on Sunday is at 2pm and tickets can be bought here.
