Yates: An Awful Start

26 April 2014

Mark Yates disappointed with the result but congratulates Rochdale on their promotion.

Cheltenham chief Mark Yates speaking to the media following this afternoon's 2-0 loss at Rochdale:

"It was all about them (Rochdale) today. They started really well and we had no answers to a blistering start but we are probably guilty of not starting as well as we would have liked. They ran out deserved winners and these scenes at the end are what we want to be part of next season at our place. There a few things to take away from the game but this is something we want to strive for and though it hasn't happened this year we have got to make it happen next year now.

"It was an awful start. We thought we might frustrate them but it was two goals too quick. We were powderpuff and they went through us too many times. The positives were that we had a few chances of our own and Joe, Zack and Harry all came on and played pretty well second half.

"I'll have a good think now. We'll have a couple of good days on the training ground because we've got a bit of work to do in terms of the time we are in the season and making sure that come next week we know where we're going.

"Credit to Rochdale. It was great scenes after and congratulations to them. Good luck to them next season and it shows what we've got to do."
