Mansfield Rewind

21 April 2014

Take yourselves back to December when the Robins were beaten at home to Mansfield.

Cheltenham Town head to Field Mill later today for the first time since 2006 and a repeat of that scoreline would be most welcome.

The Robins won 5-0 that day but things will be very different here today with Mansfield in resurgent form and currently sat in mid-table at present whilst the Robins battle away near the bottom of the division. Plenty of teams feel the cold threat of the bottom two over their shoulder and a point at least at Mansfield today would go a long way to soothing the Robins as the season nears it's conclusion.

The previous encounter between the two games was back in December - the final game of 2013. In truth, it was one to forget for Cheltenham Town with Mansfield doing a great job of bullying their opposition and running out 2-1 winners at the Abbey Business Stadium.

Anthony Howell's 21st minute opener have Mansfield the lead they needed and, like a dog with a bone, they were determined not to let it go. They doubled their lead in first half injury time and hung onto the three points despite Sido Jombati's 86th minute glimmer of hope. It was a disappointing end to 2013 and Mark Yates' players will be keen to put that right at Field Mill today.
