Yates: I Believe In Them

25 September 2013

Mark Yates has a firm belief that his players can and will turn their form around.

Mark Yates speaking to www.ctfc.com ahead of this weekend's home clash versus AFC Wimbledon:

"We have not started well and we know that. We've got to stop kidding ourselves, stop gifting the opposition goals, improve our concentration and improve everything to be honest. We're more than capable and we're not out of anything. We have got to work damn hard to make sure it's right and pull out all the stops to make sure we get up and running and back to being strong and competitive.

"Our goals against record is alarming but I can't say that we have been battered by anyone. We have just conceded goals at the wrong time and even when we played well against Oxford we let in silly goals. It's frustrating but there is a good spirit in the squad and a good camaraderie - I believe in them.

"We won't rush Troy (Brown) back but we need him back out there whether it takes a week or two weeks for selection. I want him to be available for Saturday if he possibly can be but Weso is happy that he has done loads of rehab so we'll see where we go with him. Jamie Cureton came through fine last weekend and he trained yesterday so we're just trying to get everyone fit and back firing on all cylinders.

"Wimbledon have had a good start but there's nothing in it because we've not been battered by anybody. Chesterfield will beat most teams and have the majority of the possession against most teams like they did with us but we were right in the game until we, again, gifted a soft goal. It's about getting your performance levels up every week and that's something we haven't quite managed yet so now we need to make sure we get it right on Saturday."
