Yates: Came Up Short

21 September 2013

Mark Yates slams his players as mistakes cost the Robins once again.

Robins manager Mark Yates speaking to the media following the 4-2 defeat at Plainmoor:

"We started the game poorly and to concede after two minutes was disappointing to say the least. We got ourselves back into it but to concede a goal two minutes into injury time was disappointing. To concede once we came back wasn't game over but effectively it was.

"We were poor today. Too many mistakes, too many non-performances from players who performed last week and if you don't get performances from 8 or 9 of your players away from home then you'll get beaten.

"Granted it is not the best run of form and we know the performance was not good enough so we'll get back on the training ground and I've got to correct it. We have got to stop the mistakes but we will get back on the training ground and work again.

"I can't explain at this moment time just 20 minutes after the full time whistle but there's a reason for it and we have got to work on it and we will. We'll need to change a few personnel and try to find the winning blend and a better blend than we have had. The last two games have been good but today we came up short.

"We want some consistency in our results and we want that by picking a consistent team. There's no doubt it's the right team but we've gifted them a goal after two minutes and it's just a mistake after a mistake after a mistake. Unfortunately I can't get onto the pitch to do anything about it myself but we can keep working and if we have to change a couple of the players than that is what we will do.

"It's the way things are going for us right now. We got it back to 1-1, Keith (Lowe) has hit the underside of the bar, Byron (Harrison) has a really good chance, Terry (Gornell) has had an effort well blocked but then to concede in the 47th minute is just not good."
