The Robins and Oxford went head to head in what was a captivating 2-2 draw at the Abbey Business Stadium.
Cheltenham started well and took the lead through Byron Harrison on 8 minutes but a mistake from Steve Elliott gifted Oxford United an equaliser and left Mark Yates scratching his head. Cheltenham reacted well and could have taken the lead right before half time but the post came to Oxford's rescue from Keith Lowe's header.
Cheltenham Town, fresh from Mark Yates' half time team talk, started the second period well and they were soon rewarded with Terry Gornell's close range finish but once again unbeaten Oxford fought back and they grabbed another equaliser through Johnny Mullins. Cheltenham were the stronger side throughout the game but they couldn't force a winner and they had to settle for just a point on full time.
