Yates: Good Team Performance

12 October 2013

Mark Yates pleased with his team's performance after victory away at Dagenham & Redbridge.

Robins manager Mark Yates speaking to the media following this afternoon's 2-1 victory over Dag & Red:

"We were in control of the game and their goal came from nothing and that sums us up but we responded really well. I'm proud of the win because it's a tough place to come. We changed the formation a little but but I think it worked and we deserved a bit of luck today.

"We've worked hard in every game but we haven't always channeled that into the right areas so the focus was on hard work and do it for your team-mates. You could sense things have been going their (Dag & Red) way but we stood up to them.

"Jamie's goal was opportunism but he should have scored after the first minute and it turned into a bit of an air shot! Nothing bothers him though and he is a great professional. League Two defenders are always wary of him because his movement is different class.

"Steve Elliott has been fantastic for this football club but we don't play on reputation and I went with what I thought was right and I thought Keith Lowe was excellent. If he is more aggressive then he is a massive threat from set pieces and I am delighted for him.

"If you don't come here and compete then you get beat and we had to do that today. Both my full backs were excellent today and it was a good team performance."
