Kemar Roofe Joins Cheltenham

28 November 2013

Young West Bromwich Albion striker Kemar Roofe has joined the Robins on loan.

Mark Yates has moved quickly to snap up West Bromwich Albion striker Kemar Roofe on loan ahead of today's loan deadline.

Kemar, 20, is a product of West Brom's successful Academy and is an admired talent amongst the coaching staff at the Hawthorns. The young striker has joined Cheltenham Town on a youth loan until January 4th and has been given squad number 23.

Roofe was handed a new one year contract by Baggies head coach Steve Clarke in July and he has previous League Two experience having spent a period on loan with Northampton Town in the 2012-13 campaign. He also spent time on loan with Icelandic side Víkingur Reykjavík.

"We have seen Kemar a number of times over the past few years," said Robins manager Mark Yates.

"He is a wide player who can play up front but he is predominantly a left sided player who can use both feet. He's an exciting player and we have done well to bring him here on loan."

Kemar will of course be available for selection this weekend as Cheltenham Town travel away to Southend United. You can follow Kemar on Twitter too by searching his username @Roofe39.
